## Title

Official Meta Ads MCP fails OAuth login with invalid_client_metadata

## Body

Finding: Multiple users report that Codex fails OAuth login to the official Meta Ads MCP endpoint https://mcp.facebook.com/ads. Dynamic client registration returns HTTP 400 invalid_client_metadata ("Dynamic registration is not available for this client") before any browser consent opens. The issue's original report covers CLI 0.130.0 and 0.133.0 on a Linux server (https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/24103). Later comments report the same error on macOS desktop with CLI 0.131.0-alpha.9 (https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/24103#issuecomment-4552091745), CLI 0.144.1 with app build 26.707.72221 (https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/24103#issuecomment-4981577179), and again on 2026-10-09 with a fresh app-server showing notLoggedIn and zero tools while other authenticated MCPs initialize (https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/24103#issuecomment-6089196070). A Windows desktop report (client 26.727.51351) described Authenticate doing nothing visible. Sanitized logs showed a 405 on a resource metadata probe and AuthRequired transport closure. The reporter said the same account and endpoint authenticate in Claude Desktop, and that the server's WWW-Authenticate response advertises Meta Ads scopes (https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/24103#issuecomment-5162223767). This suggests the endpoint is reachable and requests OAuth, but it does not establish the root cause.

Cause status: unknown. The error text shows the server rejecting dynamic registration for this client. Whether Codex needs a supported static client identity or different registration metadata, or whether Meta must allow the client, is unconfirmed. No maintainer response, fix commit or release appears in the supplied material. One long comment offering a detailed root-cause analysis is unverified and is not relied on.

Workaround (unendorsed, single anecdote): one commenter said they used Meta's CLI from Python with a token generated from a Business Manager system user instead of the MCP OAuth flow (https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/24103#issuecomment-4910858629). Another commenter said a bearer-token workaround should not be required for the official hosted endpoint (https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/24103#issuecomment-4981577179).

Limitations: these are external user reports from a partial public comment timeline; they have not been reproduced by KFA. Diagnostically, if you see the exact registration error above, the failure occurs at dynamic registration, not at the browser or account stage, per the reporters.
