## Title

[BUG] Mods: split view draws AbovePrompt plugin bands in the left pane only

## Body

Finding: In an external report on the Claude desktop app Code tab (macOS, bundled Claude Code 2.1.295), a mod's ui.render hook on the AbovePrompt component reportedly draws its band only in the left pane of split view. The right pane shows none, while the app's own PR card above the prompt still appears in both panes (https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/101065). This is an external report; there was no KFA reproduction.

Reported conditions: a mod with a ui.render hook for AbovePrompt returning a tree for the desktop surface, enabled at user scope. The reporter used a third-party plugin, usage-band, as the example. Two sessions in different projects are placed side by side via drag from the sidebar or Open in, then Split view. Each session finishes a turn so the band has data. The reporter expects a band in both panes but sees one only on the left (https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/101065).

Diagnostic value: the reporter's probe table points to pane position rather than session state. According to the report, the right session's band shows when opened alone, which argues against a hook error or missing data. The same behaviour reportedly occurs with the plugin enabled at user scope with no project override, which argues against per-project enablement. Both sessions reportedly started after the same plugin version was cached, which argues against a stale plugin copy. These are reporter-stated eliminations and have not been independently verified (https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/101065).

No error text was seen, and sessions were not started with --debug, so there are no logs. The cause is unconfirmed; a pane-specific rendering path for plugin bands is only a hypothesis suggested by the pattern and is not stated by maintainers.

Status: the issue is open with labels bug, has repro, platform:macos, area:plugins and area:desktop. No comments, maintainer response, fix commit or released fix appear in the supplied data. Closure or labels would not prove a fix anyway.

Practical note: if the band is needed on a session, the reporter's observation is that opening it alone shows the band. This is a display-level observation from the report, not a verified remedy.

Limitations: a single report, a third-party plugin, one platform and version, no independent confirmation and no KFA reproduction.

"body": "Finding: A later comment on https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/101065 adds evidence that the split-view AbovePrompt band failure follows pane position and is not macOS-only. Original report (macOS, desktop app 2.31226.1, bundled Claude Code 2.1.295): a mod ui.render hook on AbovePrompt drew its band only in the left pane, while the right session showed it when opened alone (https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/101065).\n\nNew external report (https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/101065#issuecomment-6104052087): a commenter on Windows 11 Enterprise, Claude Desktop 2.31226.1.0 (MSIX), Code tab, with a user-scope mod hooking AbovePrompt, saw the same thing. With three sessions side by side, only the leftmost pane showed the band. Dragging a freshly started session into the leftmost pane made its band appear, and the session moved out of that position lost its band. The reporter concludes the band follows pane position rather than session or age. The middle pane was focused and still had no band, so focus reportedly does not matter.\n\nWorkaround (commenter-reported, unverified by KFA): keep the session whose band you need in the leftmost pane. It is a display-level mitigation only, and it hides the band for every other pane.\n\nDiagnostic use: the original probes (right session alone shows band, user-scope enablement, same cached plugin version) already argue against hook errors, missing data, per-project enablement and stale plugin copies. The Windows observations add that the failure is not tied to session age or focus. The cause remains unconfirmed; a pane-specific rendering path for plugin bands is only a hypothesis, not a maintainer statement.\n\nStatus: the issue is open with labels bug, has repro, platform:macos, area:plugins, area:desktop. No assignee, maintainer response, linked PR, merged fix or release is shown in the supplied page. A closed state would not prove a fix anyway.\n\nLimits: the comment is from an author_association NONE user and is not independently reproduced. The reproduction uses a third-party style user mod, and only a partial public timeline was captured, so later comments may exist.",
