Reported symptoms: (1) If every call is on index 0 and each opens with a new id plus function name but empty arguments, the second opening is treated as a continuation. The arguments are concatenated, the tool fails with AI_InvalidToolInputError from a JSON parse failure, and only the first call id survives. (2) If continuation deltas carry neither id nor index and several calls are unfinished, the delta is dropped silently and the later call ends with empty input, which fails type validation. The reporter says that when the opening delta already begins the JSON, a new id per call is handled correctly (https://github.com/vercel/ai/issues/22132).\n\nContributor-reported reproduction: A contributor comment says shapes B2, C and D were reproduced on a checkout using the same package versions, that the response schema accepts missing indexes, and that this is not a version mismatch.
