Reported example URL: https://api.example.com/mcp?tenant=acme. The reported error is: failed to get authorization server metadata: metadata issuer \"https://api.example.com\" does not match issuer URL \"https://api.example.com?tenant=acme\".\n\nReported cause (reporter's reading of the code, not maintainer-confirmed): getProtectedResourceMetadata builds the 2025-03-26 fallback base URL by setting u.Path to empty on the parsed server URL. That keeps the query and any fragment. The result is used as the issuer, so the issuer check in GetAuthServerMeta fails. If the server serves no metadata at all, the reporter says default endpoints are built by concatenation and come out like https://api.example.com?tenant=acme/authorize and the same for /token.\n\nExpected behavior per the reporter: the base URL should be scheme and authority only (https://api.example.com), consistent with the 2025-03-26 spec example and RFC 8414 issuer rules (no query or fragment). The reporter says protected resource metadata discovery is unaffected, since RFC 9728 section 3.1 keeps the query when inserting the well-known suffix.\n\nStatus: the issue was open at the time of the supplied snapshot, with no maintainer comment visible. The reporter states a fix with tests exists and a PR will follow, but no PR, commit or release was supplied, so there is no confirmed fix or shipped release. No workaround was stated.\n\nDiagnostic hint, if you see this error: check whether your MCP server URL contains a query string and whether the server lacks protected resource metadata. This is an external report only; KFA did not reproduce it.
