## Title

[macOS][Computer History] IntelliJ workflow triggers 600–700% recorder CPU and AX error flood; persists after pause

## Body

Finding: In an external report (no KFA reproduction), Codex/ChatGPT Desktop 26.1007.21159 with Computer Use helper 26.1005.1001425 on macOS 27.0.1 ARM64 showed SkyComputerUseService using sustained multi-core CPU, with a flood of AccessibilitySupport.UIElementError entries, while Computer History was enabled and IntelliJ IDEA 2026.1.2 was in use (https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/52753). Reported measurements: about 183,801 errors in roughly 180 seconds (about 1,021/sec) in the original process. Spot CPU readings were 567.6% (Activity Monitor) and 593.9% (ps). After a restart, a new recorder process logged 88,692 errors in about 45 seconds (about 1,971/sec) and spot CPU readings of 286.1%, 722.6% and 630.7% (same source).

Persistence: the reporter says pausing Computer History did not stop the high CPU or the error flood in the already-unhealthy process. Temporarily excluding com.jetbrains.intellij in that same process also did not reduce CPU. After terminating the helper and re-enabling history, the flood recurred in the new recorder once IDEA was used manually (same source).

Diagnostic evidence: native samples repeatedly showed recursive helper code around Sequence.compactMap, plus AX attribute-read calls (AXUIElementCopyAttributeValue and similar) and Swift retain/release and copying work, including in a sample taken while history was paused. The reporter states the binary is not fully symbolicated, so this does not establish a source-level infinite loop or the exact offending UI element. The error code is not interpreted as a permission failure (same source).

Cause and status: the cause is unknown. IDEA is a suspected trigger only, and responsibility among helper, IDE and macOS is unresolved. The reporter links #38873 (Computer History traversal freezing IntelliJ Git Log) as potentially related but does not assume equivalence. The issue is open, and the supplied content shows no maintainer response, fix commit or release.

Limitations: this is a single user report, and the reproduction is not deterministic. The restart phase included some read-only Computer Use AX inspections. A separately launched helper ran during diagnosis, so the exclusion/allowance comparison is not a controlled A/B test, and an early 5–6% CPU baseline was excluded by the reporter for that reason. The reporter did not verify that excluding IDEA before a fresh restart prevents recurrence, so no workaround can be recommended. Treat the details as reported source evidence, not verified by KFA.
