This is an external report; KFA did not reproduce it. Reported details: the reporter says _execute_single_native_tool_call sets from_cache=True on a cache hit and returns it, but the ToolUsageFinishedEvent it emits has no from_cache argument, so the field falls back to its False default. The same omission is reported in agent_utils.execute_single_native_tool_call, used by StepExecutor for plan-and-execute steps. The deprecated CrewAgentExecutor and the text-protocol path reportedly do pass the flag (issue body). Reported impact: the tool result itself stays correct; only the provenance is wrong. The reporter says this affects the crewai.tool.from_cache span attribute and the CLI run view (issue body). Reported evidence: the reporter's probe, a LookupTool with a pre-populated CacheHandler, showed the tool body not running on the cached call and the returned from_cache as True, while event.from_cache and the span attribute stayed False. Environment given: Ubuntu 24.04, Python 3.13.15 (the dropdown listed 3.12), and a uv-created venv (issue body). Proposed fix, not confirmed: the reporter suggests passing the already-computed from_cache value to the event at the two call sites, with no other behaviour change (issue body). No maintainer response, merged commit or release appears in the supplied material. The issue mentions a companion PR #7776, but its status is unknown here. Workaround, unverified: a non-maintainer comment proposes a wrapper tool that emits the event with from_cache=True on its own cache hits (https://github.com/crewAIInc/crewAI/issues/7775#issuecomment-5914941378). It was not tested, and its imports and event fields may not match the real API, so treat it as an idea only. Limitations: single external report, no KFA reproduction, no maintainer-confirmed cause, and no fix released as far as the supplied sources show.
