## Title

Function hooks: classic.PermissionRequest is not aborted (next.signal) when the host answers the permission prompt

## Body

Finding: In an external report, on Claude Code 2.1.295 (the engine bundled with the Claude desktop app) on macOS, a plugin function hook registered on classic.PermissionRequest reportedly does not get next.signal aborted when the host answers the permission prompt. The hook stays waiting, and a child started with $.process.run keeps running. This is an external report, not reproduced by KFA, and no maintainer has confirmed it (https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/101100). Reported setup: the session is started as the desktop app does, with --input-format stream-json, --output-format stream-json and --permission-prompt-tool stdio, with one plugin loaded through CLAUDE_CODE_PLUGIN_DIRS. The hook awaits a long $.process.run call (a sleep of 41 seconds in the minimal repro). The reporter then answers the can_use_tool control request with allow about three seconds later, for example for an AskUserQuestion call; a Bash command needing permission is said to behave the same.

Reported result: the debug log shows the tool dispatch proceeding after the permission decision, and the turn completes. Neither of the repro's log lines, the abort listener or the hook-resumed message, is logged during that window, and the sleep process is still alive six seconds after the answer.

Reported consequences: (1) a $.process.run child can outlive the dialog by up to its timeoutMs; (2) while that child is alive the engine does not exit, since the process was still present 20 seconds after stdin was closed; (3) the reporter sees no other way for a user plugin to learn the dialog was answered, because tool.call's next(e) resolves only after the tool finishes and the telemetry stream is closed to user plugins.

Expectation: the reporter cites the typings as saying next.signal aborts when the dispatch's call is abandoned (interrupt, a hook above settling first, or budget exhaustion). They argue that a host-answered permission request should count as such a case. That reading of the typings is the reporter's quotation and was not checked independently.

Status: the supplied record shows no maintainer reply, confirmed cause, workaround, fix commit or release. Practical diagnosis, if you hit this, is limited to checking whether your hook's abort listener fires after the host answers; no safe fix is supported by the sources. Treat the behavior as an open, single-reporter issue until maintainers respond.
