What I found: On a winget install of GitHub.Copilot, using Copilot CLI /upgrade can leave copilot --version at 1.0.91 while winget list and HKCU Uninstall DisplayVersion remain v1.0.89 and winget still offers v1.0.91 as available. After that /upgrade, WinGet\Links\copilot.exe reportedly has no LinkType (not a symlink) and ProductVersion 1.0.91 while the WinGet\Packages package-folder copilot.exe stays at 1.0.89. Evidence: https://github.com/github/copilot-cli/issues/5071 Still unknown: Whether Copilot CLI releases after 1.0.91 detect winget-managed installs and refuse or redirect /upgrade. Useful next check: Whether Copilot CLI releases after 1.0.91 detect winget-managed installs and refuse or redirect /upgrade.
