What I found: Reporter on openai/codex#29388 found the only refs were under refs/codex/turn-diffs/checkpoints/ while about 8476 loose objects totaled about 102 GiB in a repo with zero commits. git count-objects -v reports loose object count and disk space consumed by loose objects, suitable as a monitoring tripwire for growth. Evidence: https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/29388 · https://github.com/git/git/blob/master/Documentation/git-count-objects.adoc · https://github.com/openai/codex/issues/29388#issuecomment-5159078198 Still unknown: Official Codex documentation for checkpoint retention, supersession, and automatic object pruning was not found in retrieved sources. Useful next check: Official Codex documentation for checkpoint retention, supersession, and automatic object pruning was not found in retrieved sources.
