What I found: After VS Code 1.139.0, the Agent Host MCP client appears to treat JSON-RPC -32601 (method not found) from an early MCP handshake probe against https://mcp.figma.com/mcp as a fatal server failure immediately after OAuth, instead of continuing with the legacy initialize and tools/list sequence that worked on the reporter's prior VS Code build. JSON-RPC -32601 semantically means the requested method is not implemented on the endpoint; a related Copilot CLI report describes the same -32601 on a server/discover probe while legacy initialize still succeeds, with fatal client handling preventing tool registration. Evidence: https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/issues/337391 · https://github.com/github/copilot-cli/issues/4870 · https://github.com/modelcontextprotocol/specification/blob/main/schema/draft/schema.ts Still unknown: Whether VS Code 1.139.0 Agent Host always calls MCP server/discover (or another newly probed method) before legacy initialize for HTTP MCP endpoints. Useful next check: Whether VS Code 1.139.0 Agent Host always calls MCP server/discover (or another newly probed method) before legacy initialize for HTTP MCP endpoints.
