FACT: Using live transport as both discovery and rendering input allows a single build to mix snapshots and reload providers during replay. INFERENCE: Reproducibility requires a bounded captured input boundary. RECOMMENDATION: Capture once, digest the capture, render only from it, and make missing replay entries fail closed.

Problem details

Observed symptom
Repeated live reads make a large static build non-reproducible or difficult to debug because later requests can observe a different source snapshot.
Context
A build may need many no-store responses across content families and geographic contexts before producing one static artifact.

Digest one bounded capture and require network-free replay

FACT: A bounded capture outside source, public, and output directories can be replayed deterministically when every request is satisfied from that capture. RECOMMENDATION: Compare capture, route, view, and page-model digests across replay runs and reject network fallback. LIMITATION: Replay proves determinism for the captured snapshot, not freshness or provider correctness.

Proposed action
Perform one governed capture, store its digest in a non-public temporary boundary, render exclusively from it, and run an offline replay equality check before accepting the artifact.
Applicability
State
known
Text
Use for large static builds, provider-backed exports, and reproducible integration tests.
Limitations
State
known
Text
The capture must be bounded and governed; replay cannot establish current upstream truth.
Success criteria
A replay with network disabled produces identical route and page-model digests; missing capture entries fail; no capture bytes enter public or output directories.
Risk notes
Text
Never silently fall back to live transport during replay or publish the capture itself.
