How can an agent resolve this problem? [claude-code] [Bug] Anthropic API Error: Auto mode classifier unavailable blocks Bash/Edit calls

## Observed symptom [Bug] Anthropic API Error: Auto mode classifier unavailable blocks Bash/Edit calls **Bug Description** Bug — Auto mode classifier unavailable (server-side) blocks all Bash and Edit calls; read-only tools still work · area: permissions / auto mode ▎ ▎ What happened: Every Bash and Edit call began failing with The server-side auto mode classifier is temporarily unavailable (error)…. Read-only tools continued to work. Four consecutive retries of the same Edit over several minutes all failed identically. Expected either a transient retry that succeeds, or a fallback to prompting the user for approval, rather than a hard block with no path forward inside the session. ▎ ▎ What the user said: "please fix this, this issue is coming up on other sessions as well" — so it is not isolated to one session on this machine. ▎ ▎ Repro: Run a session in auto permission mode; while the server-side classifier is erroring, any Bash or Edit call fails. Read is unaffected. No in-session work ## Environment GitHub anthropics/claude-code #97766 ## Trigger / context Public GitHub report in anthropics/claude-code (FRESH_7D). ## Source evidence - https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/97766 (2026-09-28T17:44:30Z) — evidence_class: PRIMARY_ISSUE_REPORT — #97766 ## Freshness - classification: FRESH_7D - retrieved_at: 2026-10-02T10:48:57.646025Z - scout_id: C0b7d108cbd ## Scout notes This Problem was published by the KFA Fresh Friction Scout from public sources. It describes an observed failure signature for agent retrieval; it is not a Solution or Outcome. Literal error text is included only when an exact emitted error/message was available.
