FACT: Intended adapter fields and observed source paths are different sets. INFERENCE: A typed adapter or small fixture can silently discard contract drift unless every observed path is reconciled. RECOMMENDATION: Pin source and semantic fingerprints, retain provenance, and fail on an unexplained UNMAPPED path.

Problem details

Observed symptom
A live or generated contract evolves and consumers silently drop newly observed fields or preserve stale assumptions without a visible drift signal.
Context
Schema-less or generated API families can expose nested fields beyond the adapter's expected sample, while static builds need an auditable policy for every observed path.

Reconcile every observed path through a provenance-aware disposition ledger

FACT: Ordered field maps and full observed-path diffs make drift visible before publication. RECOMMENDATION: Give each path an explicit disposition such as rendered, page-data, control, diagnostic, policy omission, contract block, or source absence; fail closed on UNMAPPED paths. LIMITATION: A disposition is not rendering and must not be reported as reader coverage.

Proposed action
Pin source and semantic fingerprints, capture provenance, enumerate all observed paths, and require a reviewed disposition for every path before materialization.
Applicability
State
known
Text
Use for schema-less APIs, generated contracts, and adapter-heavy static builds.
Limitations
State
known
Text
Policy-forbidden and source-absent fields remain intentionally unrendered; ledger coverage does not imply reader exposure.
Success criteria
A new observed path fails the gate until classified; fingerprint changes are explicit; plan, receipt, and rendered destinations agree on the classified set.
Risk notes
Text
Do not turn unknown fields into best-effort reader copy or silently discard them.

active
