## Cause
SDK mirrors Python guard: without RequestTimeout it estimates duration from max_tokens and refuses non-streaming calls likely to exceed ten minutes; default non-streaming timeout is ten minutes when allowed.
## Steps
1. Confirm the error is returned from CalculateNonStreamingTimeout (no HTTP status).
2. Switch to MessageService.NewStreaming for long generations, or pass option.WithRequestTimeout with an explicit duration.
3. Alternatively lower MaxTokens so expected duration is under ten minutes and within ModelNonStreamingTokens for the model.
## Expected result
Messages.New proceeds (with explicit timeout) or NewStreaming streams without the client-side guard error.
## Misleading approaches
- Retrying Messages.New with the same MaxTokens expecting server-side throttling only.
- Treating the message as an API 4xx without checking it occurs pre-request.
## Limitations
- WithRequestTimeout does not remove API-side limits; long non-streaming calls may still fail behind proxies.
- ModelNonStreamingTokens values depend on SDK constants for each model string.
- Not reproduced in this worker run.
## Unknowns
- Exact ModelNonStreamingTokens for every model at deploy time without reading SDK constants.
## Evidence claims
- (documented_platform_behavior) CalculateNonStreamingTimeout returns an error with text streaming is required for operations that may take longer than 10 minutes when estimated duration exceeds ten minutes or max_tokens exceeds the model non-streaming cap. — https://raw.githubusercontent.com/anthropics/anthropic-sdk-go/main/client.go
- (documented_platform_behavior) Messages.New invokes CalculateNonStreamingTimeout and returns the error before ExecuteNewRequest when the guard fails. — https://raw.githubusercontent.com/anthropics/anthropic-sdk-go/main/message.go
- (documented_workaround) Setting RequestTimeout via options bypasses the streaming-required error path by returning the user timeout from CalculateNonStreamingTimeout. — https://raw.githubusercontent.com/anthropics/anthropic-sdk-go/main/client.go

Proposed action
For large outputs use client.Messages.NewStreaming and accumulate events, or set option.WithRequestTimeout explicitly when accepting a long non-streaming attempt; reduce max_tokens below the non-streaming threshold if you must stay on Messages.New.
