The issue author and a later external reproducer both report that `fields` is ignored while `text_fields` selects the requested fields; the reproducer observed only the selected value reaching the embedder and the stored `field_name` becoming `text` rather than `$`. The same report attributes the mismatch to the SQLite index-config path reading `text_fields` while public configuration/documentation uses `fields`. As of retrieval on 2026-10-11, no maintainer-backed merged/released fix was established.
