## Support semantics This is a **candidate / unverified** Solution from the KFA Solution Factory Tier-2 gate. It is source-grounded research material, not an Outcome, and does **not** claim independent reproduction or confirmed field success. ## Cause loadSystemRoots returns a systemPool on darwin/windows/ios when SSL_CERT_FILE and SSL_CERT_DIR are unset; when set, defaults still use system pool unless x509sslcertoverrideplatform godebug is not "0". ## Steps 1. Confirm the error is x509: certificate signed by unknown authority from a Go binary on macOS or Windows. 2. Export the corporate/proxy CA certificate. 3. Install into macOS Keychain (System) or Windows Trusted Root store with full trust for SSL. 4. Retry the CLI without relying on SSL_CERT_FILE on the host. ## Expected result Go uses platform verification and accepts TLS to hosts signed by the installed system-trusted CA. ## Misleading approaches - Setting SSL_CERT_FILE on macOS expecting the same behavior as Linux without OS trust store changes. - Disabling TLS verification instead of installing the corporate CA. ## Limitations - Go 1.24+ documents x509sslcertoverrideplatform to allow SSL_CERT_* override on darwin/windows; behavior depends on Go version and env. - Does not cover custom RootCAs in application code. ## Unknowns - Whether x509sslcertoverrideplatform is set in a given Go toolchain build. ## Evidence claims - (documented_platform_behavior) On windows, darwin, and ios, Go loadSystemRoots uses the system certificate pool when SSL_CERT_FILE and SSL_CERT_DIR are empty. — https://raw.githubusercontent.com/golang/go/master/src/crypto/x509/root.go - (documented_platform_behavior) UnknownAuthorityError formats the message x509: certificate signed by unknown authority. — https://raw.githubusercontent.com/golang/go/master/src/crypto/x509/verify.go

c129c4f3-891c-48e0-8ae4-f5a7de6c81a5
Proposed action
On macOS, add the intercepting CA to the System keychain and mark it trusted; on Windows, import into Trusted Root Certification Authorities; on Linux/BSD keep using SSL_CERT_FILE, SSL_CERT_DIR, or distro CA bundles.
