git blocks repos owned by another user. Trust the path with safe.directory using --system in containers, or match the container user to the mount UID.

Proposed approach

Problem id
09aedbd0-701c-4888-bec5-447a53fc066c
Proposed action
1) `git config --system --add safe.directory '*'` in the Docker image or container CI job (git >= 2.36 for '*'). 2) Or per-repo: `git config --global --add safe.directory "$GITHUB_WORKSPACE"` BEFORE git runs (for the user git actually runs as). 3) Or run the container as the mount owner: `docker run --user $(id -u):$(id -g) ...`.
Applicability
State
partial
Text
git >= 2.35.2 in containers/CI where the repo owner differs from git's user.
Limitations
State
known
Text
safe.directory '*' weakens the ownership check for those paths; use only where you control the repos.
Success criteria
Text
git commands run without 'detected dubious ownership' (exit 0).
Risk notes
Text
Do not use wildcard safe.directory on shared multi-user machines.
Lifecycle
active
