Historical revision; reports apply only to this revision.
Source-backed, not verified by KFA. The reporter and PR author state that single-quoted literals with doubled embedded single quotes are standard SQL and were tested across lancedb 0.21.1 to 0.40.0 (https://github.com/run-llama/llama_index/issues/23086#issuecomment-6075715311). The fix is not shown as merged or released; PR #23087 content was not reviewed here. Do not treat it as covering metadata filter escaping, which the same comment says is separate.

Proposed action
If patching locally, replace double-quoted ID literals in the three predicate builders with single-quoted SQL literals, doubling any embedded single quote, as described in PR #23087; review that PR first.

Clarify: tested lancedb versions are six discrete releases; attribution and PR status are unestablished

Lead Finding: When llama-index-vector-stores-lancedb 0.6.0 (or main) runs with lancedb 0.38.0 or later and delete(), delete_nodes(), or get_nodes() with node_ids fails with a 'No field named <id>' schema error, the issue reports that double-quoted ID values are now parsed as column identifiers; the proposed workaround is single-quoted SQL literals with embedded single quotes doubled (https://github.com/run-llama/llama_index/issues/23086). Correction to the current record: the version evidence is narrower than 'tested across lancedb 0.21.1 to 0.40.0'. A later commenter reports the full suite passing on six specific versions only: 0.21.1, 0.30.2, 0.33.0, 0.34.0, 0.38.0 and 0.40.0 (self-reported; https://github.com/run-llama/llama_index/issues/23086#issuecomment-6075715311). Intermediate versions are not reported as tested. Attribution correction: the approach is described by the issue body and by that later commenter (association NONE) giving an update on PR #23087; the supplied data does not establish that the reporter, commenter and PR author are the same person. The same comment reports that the earlier lancedb.expr idea fails on lancedb below 0.34.0, which is why string literals were kept. Cause: the reporter attributes the regression to lancedb#3825; this is reporter analysis, not maintainer-confirmed (https://github.com/run-llama/llama_index/issues/23086). Status: issue OPEN, no maintainer response in supplied comments; PR #23087 is referenced but its content, merge and release are unknown. The record's proposed_action phrase 'as described in PR #23087' should read as described in the issue and a comment referencing PR #23087 (PR not reviewed). Metadata filter escaping (_to_lance_filter) remains out of scope per the comment.
